UEPLAC participated in the parliamentary technical assistance organisations Coordination Meeting

Dr Bernhard SCHLOER, the UEPLAC V Key Expert, participated in the parliamentary technical assistance organisations Coordination Meeting, devoted to the discussion of mechanisms for improving the interaction between the public and state authorities in Ukraine.

Ms Nataliya DNIPRENKO, Head of the CMU PR Department, presented the Ukrainian government’s projects in e-democracy and introduced the plan for 2010 aimed at improving the efficiency of public policy for the development of civil society. The web-portal allowing direct contact between the government, citizens and NGOs has been also presented: http://civic.kmu.gov.ua/civic/control/uk/index.

This web-portal offers to citizens the detailed information on the government’s public consultations and other public activities and contains a special guidebook to learn about participatory rights of citizens in the policy-making process. A separate illustrated web-portal for young citizens, designed to introduce the public authorities in an easy-to-understand way, has been also presented: http://children.kmu.gov.ua. Furthermore, profiles of the all registered NGOs can be consulted as well.
